When you walk inside for your online order pickup, you are welcomed by our friendly staff and our huge candy by the pound counter. Bet you can’t have just one piece!

We stock a mix of nostalgic and modern products, art supplies, home goods, kitchenware, pet supplies, toys and games, skincare and beauty products, home and bath necessities, and seasonal clothing. We also have an ever-growing supply of beautiful local items from Western Massachusetts.

Just past our main counter you will find a coffee station where you can pour a cup of locally roasted coffee from Esselon Coffee Roasters in Hadley, MA and then take a stroll through the Local Art Gallery to view the work of over 20 local artists who create pottery, paintings, jewelry, and more!

The latest in a long line of family businesses at this location dating back to 1741, The Mill District General Store is inspired by the 7th generation owner, Walter Cowls Jones, who was always quick with a homespun quip. We are proud to introduce a new store with a touch of nostalgia that has everything you need, as well as the fun things that Walter would say are “Handier than a pocket in a pair of under drawers!” Every visit is truly an experience. This “Modern” General Store has updated to include an online shopping experience
