Description
Greetings from Amherst College's Loeb Center for Career Exploration and Planning!
First, please join us in congratulating our Class of ’25 graduates as they prepare for Commencement! As our team wraps this academic year and begins to look towards the next, we want to thank you for your organization's continued engagement with our students.
Below we've outlined various recruitment options, both virtual and in-person, for the upcoming Fall semester. We are readying our calendars now to field your reservation requests, and invite you to be in touch as you consider and strategize best approaches!
Why Recruit at Amherst?
For more than 200 years, Amherst College has prepared talented, curious students, equipping them for leadership in an increasingly global and complex world. Amherst is committed to inclusivity and ensuring that all students feel they belong. The diversity of people, ideas, and experiences within our community presents extraordinary opportunities for learning, readying students to make a lasting impact at your organization. Across 42 majors in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, 48% of our domestic students self-identify as persons of color, and 17% of our current first years are first-generation college students. Our students hail from all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and 70 countries!
When you recruit at Amherst, you enlist personalized, consultative services to effectively source high-performing interns and recent graduates for your open roles. Our dedicated Employer Relations team can provide support throughout your hiring process, from marketing opportunities to arranging interviews on campus or virtually.
Getting Started
Recruiters may share opportunities with Amherst via Handshake at any time of year. We welcome you to notify us as roles are posted, so we can spread the word through student-facing newsletters and career community advisors.

On-Campus and Virtual Events
Interested in visiting campus – either in-person or virtually – to host an information session, topical workshop, or on-campus info table? Here are key dates to keep in mind for Fall 2025:
Tues., Sept. 2 Classes Begin
Mon., Sept. 8 On-campus events may begin
Weds., Sept. 10 On-campus interviews & office hours may begin
Sat., Oct. 11 - Tues., Oct. 14 Mid-Semester Break

Weds., Dec. 10 Last Day of Classes
When planning events, we invite recruiters to:
-
E-mail Sarah (sknowles@amherst.edu) your preferred timing window, so she can help strategize effective dates and times to reach your targeted audience and avoid event conflicts.
-
Consider shorter webinar lengths -- 30 or 45 minutes, for instance, instead of an hour -- as a way to address Zoom fatigue's detrimental effect on attendance.
-
Propose collaborative multi-school events that include our local consortia partners, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges; peer NESCAC institutions; and/or other member schools in the Liberal Arts Career Network (LACN).
-
Visit Handshake’s Help Center for lots of helpful event set-up guides.
Office Hours & Interviews (In-person or Virtual)
Planning to devote a set window of time to Amherst candidate interviews? Interested in hosting informational office hours (sometimes referred to as “coffee chats”) with potential applicants? We’d be glad to assist with resume bundling, student scheduling, and other logistics.
-
For hiring interviews (either on campus or virtual), follow these instructions to set up an Amherst interview schedule and attach your Handshake posting(s) to it. Though start/end times will default to our office’s open hours for in-person meetings, we’ll be glad to adjust and customize timing for those conducting interviews virtually.
-
For informational office hours, please email us to discuss potential options for structure and timing.
